Who would have thought, even just a few years ago, the worlds of wires and water would intertwine.

This site is to help display my rodbuilding and put me in touch with people who may be interested in obtaining a one-of-a-kind fly rod.

PLEASE NOTE: As of November 2010 I am suspending all new orders. Existing orders will be fullfilled throughout the winter months. I have a substantial backlog of rods to finish. I will not be taking orders for approx. 6 months in order to clear my backorders and focus my attention on more important endeavors (i.e. family, school). Thanks for your understanding.

Bamboo Rods

My bamboo fly rods are handcrafted from scratch in my shop.

From the splitting and planing of the bamboo to the machining of nickel silver hardware.

Each detail can be customized to your specifications.

Fiberglass Rods

I have been intrigued by modern fiberglass rods since my first cast with one 12 years ago.

I believe the glass blanks being produced today can provide an angler with bamboo-like actions at graphite like prices (and maintenance).

If you have not handled one of these rods, I would highly recommend it for a few hours.

Fighting a fish (big or small) on a glass rod is an experience not to be missed!

Fiberglass Build Details

Fiberglass rods are fashioned with the following accoutrements:

-High Quality USA made blank in 2 or 3pc configurations
-Shop made nickel silver or aluminum reel seat hardware (Cap and ring unless otherwise requested)

-Wood spacer (tiger maple, curly walnut, curly cherry, mahogany, and many others....)

-Shop-turned select cork grip

-Pearsalls Gossamer chestnut silk wraps with 3-turn gossamer black tipping

-Shop-made knurled winding check

-Shop-made Dickerson-style hook keeper (optional)

-Agate stripping guide

-Snake Brand blackened snake guides

-Shop-made knurled ferrule rings

-Unique "clip top" tip top design

All rods are housed in a classic aluminum rod tube with brass end caps cushioned by a custom made rod bag.

Finally, your custom rod is proudly identified with a brass engraved tube label.

**All hardware is assumed to be blued unless requested otherwise**

Due to the increased interest in my rods, I feel it is important to list my current prices for finished rods built on Mark Steffen blanks. Price quotes are assuming all features listed above...

3pc. - $525

4pc. - $550

Shipping is an additional $15. All CONUS rods will ship USPS Priority with proper insurance and confirmation

Extra options/customization is available and will be quoted separately (depending on customization, price may increase or decrease)

As of 6/5/10 all rod builds will feature Snake Brand stripping guides... a traditional Mildrum stripping guide may be replaced for a $20 reduction in price.
